From Driver Licence Testing Officer to Driving Instructor. Why?

Well......as a DTO I saw a large number of drivers continually fail their CLASS 1 Restricted and CLASS 1 Full driving tests. These drivers had inadequate knowledge of the road rules, lacked the necessary driving skills or were stressed to the max causing them to make mistakes. This is alarming to me because these drivers are unsafe and still drive on our roads. 

Changes to the licensing system, road rules and infringement penalties were meant to address the problem. But the only tangible outcome from these changes is that you will receive a fine if you break or infringe the road rules. This, however, does not help you become a better driver.

As I gained more experience and tested more and more drivers, it became apparent that the real solution is to provide more effective training.

So, to answer the question "Why am I now a driving instructor?". It's because of the frustration of seeing so many drivers continually fail their tests. It's because there are numerous unsafe drivers out there. It's because I believe that all drivers should be trained professionally before they attempt a practical test.

I believe I offer greater value to customers, by being a professionally trained instructor that also has tester experience.
